Yeah, so today, while reference hunting for pictures of Sephiroth, I decided to change my method behind the way I planned on drawing him for a couple of reasons. One being I'm running low on giant, high quality paper, so a full-body life size drawing is a bit out of the question. Besides, nobody seems to know how tall he is exactly, and for me, that's very pertinent information. I don't want to draw him at 6'2" if he's really like . . . 5'8". That's a six inch mistake.

Second, even in the movie, Advent Children, which I own and have painstakingly picked through, they never give a clear side-view of his face, which I want to use as a reference to get his features accurate. The reason being that his bangs are constantly in the way. And I don't care how much lover you are of that game or Sephiroth, I don't care if he was prenatally injected with Jenova cells . . . that hairdo is the source of his power.

Sidetrack: I really need to play that game again, but every time I do, I start to feel seasick. Which is odd, because I've never even been near the ocean while playing that game. I think its because the graphics hurt my eyes. They always did.

Third, there is never a good clear shot of the back of his coat thingy, and I really don't want to have to call up someone I kinda hate just to take a look at the back of his last-years con' costume.

But anywho, I found, nestled in the action-packed four minutes Sephiroth is on screen, attempting to kick Cloud's whiny ass, (I like Cloud, don't worry . . . I just think his name would be better in German, Wolke,) a little 1/2 second screen shot of Sephiroth coming toward the camera, sword ready, a great look on his face and motion blur. And I thought to myself I've never drawn motion blur before, nor have I worked through blur to make it slightly clearer. So . . . because I need more fanart for an Artist's Alley at an upcoming con, I've decided to go with that shot, because I have a reference, but I still have a lot to interpret on my own.

Oh, and in case you're wondering, for every piece of fanart I have, I have at least three pieces of original work. I just choose not to put originals online for whatever reason, but will be showing them at aforementioned Anime Convention.

So that's it! I might do WIPs on this one . . . I dunno. If I do, expect the first on tomorrow night!
